Introduced at the most recent New York International Auto Show, the 2024 Jeep Wrangler retains the rugged looks and rectangular body style of previous models. While the grille, which the automaker reworked for the Wrangler’s 20th anniversary, remains the same, various other modifications are in evidence. Fans of the Wrangler will note several tweaks on the visual level, notably the antenna, which is now integrated into the windshield. They will also have a choice of 10 possible body colors and 10 new rims (ranging from 17 to 20 inches).
With nearly five million models sold since its initial release, the Wrangler has only gotten better with the years. For 2024, the changes focus primarily on additional options for customization, particularly when it comes to off-road equipment, as well as an increased emphasis on technology (safety and connectivity).
The 2024 Jeep Wrangler will be even more generous in terms of trim levels: Sport, Willys, Sahara, High Altitude, Rubicon, Rubicon 392, Rubicon X, 4xe PHEV and Sport S 4xe. All of these feature body-on-frame construction. Jeep has equipped them with four skid plates underneath the floorboard and five-link coil-spring suspension on all four wheels. It’s fitting to mention that only the Rubicon versions will feature the Dana 44 HD Full-Float solid rear axle, which enables the use of 35-inch (standard) or even 40-inch tires.
When it comes to powertrains, the philosophy is the same: a wealth of choices. These include a 2.0 L inline-four turbo (270 hp and 295 lbf·ft), a 3.6 L Pentastar V6 (285 hp and 260 lbf·ft), a 6.4 L HEMI V8 (470 hp and 470 lbf·ft) and a plug-in hybrid, which combines the inline-four engine with two electric motors (375 hp and 470 lbf·ft).
The PHEV and Rubicon 392 models of the Wrangler come exclusively with an eight-speed automatic transmission. However, the other versions also offer the option of a six-speed manual.
On the inside, the 2024 Jeep Wrangler gets a new 12.3-inch center touchscreen featuring the much faster Uconnect 5 multimedia system. Wireless connectivity (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) offering parallel operation of two Bluetooth devices, over-the-air updates, a 4G LTE WiFi modem and the TomTom navigation system are all there, as well. To top it off, the 2024 Wrangler offers no fewer than 85 active and passive safety features.
